SACYR ANNOUNCES THE 7TH EDITION OF THE INNOVATION AWARDS FOR THE BEST STARTUP

Sacyr has opened the entry period for the seventh edition of the Sacyr Innovation Awards for startups with the potential to provide solutions to improving infrastructures and related services.

The Sacyr Foundation has launched the 7th edition of the Sacyr Innovation Awards for the Best Startup. These awards have one clear objective, which is to encourage and promote cooperation in innovation and in developing startups targeting the infrastructures and services sectors, in addition to support for entrepreneurs during the process as they mature and when making their market debut.

Through this collaboration, Sacyr intend to develop business projects with startups that are developing solutions with an innovative approach, scalability and an international outlook to improve competitiveness in the infrastructure and services sectors through technology relating to the areas of augmented and virtual reality, nanotechnology and new materials, artificial intelligence, IoT, sensing and big data, and 3D printing and modelling, etc.

Taking advantage of the launch of the new edition, early this month Sacyr organised meetings with startups from the sector in three Spanish cities: Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia. Through these events, the company attracted dozens of startups and entrepreneurs, as well as incubators, accelerators and so on, which were interested in discovering first-hand Sacyr’s open innovation model.

After six editions with more than 400 entries, Sacyr has several projects under development with startups achieving interesting results. Several projects stand out among the latest innovation projects at Sacyr, such as a mobile app to monitor the progress of building work; an application to facilitate dependent-care-related services; a technology platform concerning road cleaning services to connect citizens, local councils and suppliers; new healthcare waste treatment technology; a nanotechnology application for cleaning buildings; and artificial intelligence software for optimising the design of railway/road routes.

The deadline for candidates’ entries ends on 26 May 2017 and the terms and conditions of the awards are available in the Innovation Channel of the Sacyr website www.sacyr.com.

The video shows all the areas and sectors where Sacyr is seeking to cooperate with startups and the main pillars of these innovation awards.
